About

I paint people. Contemporary, figurative work with an editorial, surrealist edge. I have painted since I was a child, and the images I keep returning to come from feminine archetypes and from what surfaces in my dreams. Acrylic on canvas, mostly. The figures feel familiar and slightly out of place, like pieces of my own life set down on canvas and left to live in someone else’s home.
For a long time it stayed private. Painting was a hobby, and hobbies are supposed to fit in a closet. Mine did not. The canvases went from a corner to a wall to most of a small apartment, and my fiancé Preston, stepping around a six-foot alligator painting in the kitchen, eventually made the case that other people might want to live with these too. He was right, though I’d have preferred he was right about a smaller painting.
So here it is. I paint because I love it, and I would rather these pieces be on your wall than stacked against mine.
